I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy along with The British Psychological Society.
I trained as an Integrative counsellor with the Iron Mill. I have also taken further diplomas with Surrey NHS in Family and Systemic Therapy, and in the Foundations of Analytical Psychology with the SAP in London. I have had a long academic journey in Psychology and Mental Health, from my MSc in Clinical Psychology to research in Cognitive Neuroscience at Exeter university.
I have a long career in learning across all settings. I have taught all ages, from primary-school-age children through to lecturing university students. I have a particular interest in how children’s experiences in school and their academic world can impact their mental health. Additionally, how these negative experiences can carry through into adulthood and without support can become life-limiting. I am the founder and director of Westcountry SEN.
The counselling I offer is integrative, bringing together different approaches within the counselling relationship. Counselling is an enriching process where you can explore and talk through anything that impacts on your life or wellbeing. There is no right or wrong way to start. The counselling I offer starts from wherever you are in yourself in your first session. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling.
